Boys Will Be Boys

I was going to spend some time here and add some photos of our trip to the Erie County Fair.  Or maybe talk about when school started.  BUT...All the children decided to wake up right when I turned on the computer this morning.  They should still be sleeping!  Oh well.  Off to make some pancakes...

Time has gotten away...

Time sure has gotten away from me this last month.  I have alot of updating to do on here.  I have many photos of the Fair I should share with you.  Maybe just a few.  School has also started.  Lots of changes there.  We rearranged 2 rooms to make school better for all of us.  We are all enjoying the new feel of the rooms.  Perhaps I will have time this weekend to update more, who knows.  Right now, I am going to get my coffee and Bible before the crumbs wake up!  Thank you for following!  Have a wonderful day.

National Night Out

Here in Western New York communities celebrated National Night Out.  We decided to go to Fireman's Park near my brother house and have fun.  My camera ran out of power quickly, so not as many photos were taken that we wanted.

They boys had fun shooting a target with the fire hose.  Here is Jamison taking his turn.  I didn't get the camera out quick enough to take a photo of Kendall & Carter doing it.

Jackson really enjoyed it.

We got funny balloon characters from a clown.  We got Army dog tags.  Which Carter loved the most.  There were Police cars to explore in.  Fire demonstrations.  MaGruff was there also.  Abigail followed him then he looked at her and she cried.  There even was a bounce house.  Just one.  They needed 2.  A Helicopter landed and took off from the baseball field.  That was great to see.

We ate free pizza & hot dogs!  Plus free soda pop.  I smelled cotton candy but saw none.  Maybe someone was teasing me?  LOL  I love love love cotton candy!

Overall it was a fun and exciting evening.

Homemade Won Ton Pizza Pockets

These were made with one pack of Won Ton Wraps.  I just added some homemade pizza sauce & cheese.
They turned out  better than I thought they would.  You could stuff them with anything you want.  My next goal is to make a sweet filling for them.  Something with cream cheese sounds yummy!

A small dab of pizza sauce & a small cube of cheese.

We the edges with water and press to seal closed.  Then fold away!

Here they are baking in oven.  350 for about 10-12 min.  That is all it took.  It took longest to put them together that it did to bake them.  You could boil them also. The cheese oozed out of some of them.  I just need to seal them better next  time.

If you make them I hope you enjoy them.  What filling will you be making?

Summer Fun

( I have tried for about 6 hours to load up this video.  It wont do it so I have given up.  Now you can read the comments and just imagine the silly video of Carter and Luke in my kitchen ;-)  )

This is what children do when they get a hold of the video camera with out the parents knowledge.  Where are the parents you ask?  Out in the Living Room visiting with one another because they have not seen each other in 3 years.

The boys made about 7 videos that day.  Carter seemed to be the master mind behind it all.  So silly!  I am glad the boys enjoyed each others company so much during the visit.  I sure enjoyed

Here is everyone, except Abigail.  I was holding her, she was cranky.  It was nap time, you know how that goes.  What a great bunch of children!

Summer fun at the Splash Pad!  See in the background...our new playground equipment.  Ours needed replacement years ago.  So glad the grants were there to help out!

Julia Child eat your heart out!

They were so much easier than I ever imagined!  So light and you can fill them with anything you want!

The batter was runny and needed a 15 min. rest.  I have never made them before now.       I will be  making them more often for sure!  Super easy.

I have heard that the first one never comes out, well they were right.  It was browned but it torn when I turned it.  Everyone after that was perfect!  I was so glad to  see them form so easily.  If you have not tried it you must soon.

A small 10 inch pan is all I needed.   Don't they look great!

Here is my stack, it made about 15 or so.

My fillings were not planned out.  I just woke up and thought, "today is crepe day" so I did not have much on hand for breakfast fillings.  Plus it was hot and humid out and NO WAY was I turning on the stove for any cooking.  Or an extra burner to whip up some eggs.

I got a little fancy with mine.  I spread strawberry jelly down the center then some sliced banana.  I put a little syrup on top for a yumo breakfast!

Abigail talking on the phone

This was back in July.  Our only daughter began walking on April Fool's Day.  She was 15 1/2 months old.  Yes, it was late, but all our children walked late.  That is just how it is.

We arrived home from church and she grabbed my cell phone as usual.  She began "talking" on it.  What a great laugh we all got out of it.  I even had happy tears in my eyes.

Girls are SO different from boys, and I don't mean for the obvious reasons.  She walks around with a dolly and hugs on her and snuggles with her blanket.  My 5 boys talk about gross things, play with bugs, and they laugh at the oddest things.  Truth be told, I am ever so thankful that God gave s 5 boys  and 1 girl and not 5 girls and 1 boy!  I could no way handle 4 more of Abigail!  LOL

I hope you get to enjoy this video

What in the world is that?  Cron dog Muffins?

They did not turn out as I had planned.  They ended up eating only the hot dogs.  I used the wrong corn flour.  I only had some corn mesa on hand & I don't suggest using that.

Our Trip to the Buffalo Science Museum

Nice Lion

This was their  favorite thing to do at the museum.  They built a water way and canal and had so much fun with it.

                                                           Quin building some fun.

                                                              Jackson at the train table.

Jackson didn't want his brothers having all the fun!

It was great fun for them, they worked together.

Abigail even had a good time in the toddler area.

                                                   Yes, I know it's sideways!  I couldn't move it.

Jackson and the polar bear

We all had a great time at the museum this day.  We are looking forward to going again in the near future.

A Trip to the Zoo

You all know how much little boys enjoy things that are  gross and disgusting, right?

Here is a photo I took while at the zoo a few weeks ago and it goes in that category.

Hope you get a good laugh just as my boys did.   These Monkeys/Apes are the highlight of our Zoo trips!

Homemade Sliders

My oh my, what do we have here?  Connie over at www.smokityfrocks.com post this recipe about  month ago.  We tried it twice since then.    All you need is 2 pounds of ground beef,  about 1/2 cup of dried minced onion,  a few shakes of season salt, 6 slices of cheese, dinner rolls ( or you could do what I did.  I toasted bread & cut in fourths.)

First thing ya do is sprinkle the minced onion on the bottom of a 9x13 pan.  Then you spread the 2 pounds of ground beef.  It will shrink down so spread it all over evenly.  After you have done that, sprinkle some season salt over the top of the meat.  Add it to a pre-heated 400 degree oven & cook for 20-25min.

It will shrink in size, as you see here.  Drain the grease is your next step.

Lay 6 slices of cheese on top and let melt a bit.

You can now cut them into "slider" shapes.  Simple, each slice of cheese gets cut into fourths.

So, now you take each slider and place on your cut dinner roll or toast.  Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!  One pickle slice is yummy!
Hope you get  a chance to make these & enjoy them!

A Yummy Lunch...

As most Mom's do, I enjoy finding & creating new meals for my family.  Since we home school, I make a homemade lunch for my 6 children each day.  We are not a "organic or Health food" type family.  If it tastes good & my crumbs eat it, then it is food for us!

Here is a simple example of something simple, that all but 1 ate.  You may have served this to your family before, but we just did for the first time not to long ago.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Quesadillas Surprise

What you need are flour or wheat tortillas, peanut or another nut butter, jelly, and a surprise ( I used mini M & M's).

Spread peanut butter on one side of a tortillas & spread jelly on one side of another.  Sprinkle on the surprise and lay the jelly side on the peanut butter side.

Here is Abigail, waiting patiently for her yummy lunch.

Cook them as you would quesadillas.  Use a pan on the stove top or an electric griddle.  ( I love our so much, it was the best find and deal)

They were approved by my 8 yr. old.  If you make these I hope your children enjoy them as we did!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

My attempt at making shamrock pancakes for breakfast this morning.  It was easy to make them green.  It was not easy to make the shamrock shape.

Even after making a few of them I still could not get the right shape of a shamrock.  Oh, well.  All that really maters is that the boys enjoyed them.

Green pancakes?  What is this?  They sat and stared. They sat and wondered what it was.  They sat and made funny faces.  You want us to eat this?  As if...then the tasted it and realized they were poison free and yummy!

This squirt bottle I picked up from Walmart the other day came in handy.  I first drew an outline of the shamrock then filled it in with batter.  They tasted just fine!

Eating green food can be fun.  They ate all they could eat.  Well, at least everyone but Jackson.  He just licked the syrup off his plate.  He was happy.

I just realized she looks like she has red hair in this photo.  Oh, no!  I can only handle one of those, please God, not another!  LOL  She ate her shamrock pancakes.  (Yes she is wearing her brother's pj's, When you have 5 boys then a girl you have to make due with what you have.  They don't have coupons for PJ's)    Next we are making Patty Cakes.(cupcakes with green frosting).  Great Home Economics project.  I will make sure you get to see the green mouths from the Patty Cakes!

Bounce Magic

We got to go to Bounce Magic back in Feb. for Jamison & Jackson's birthdays.  We usually do Chuck E. Cheese, but changed it this year.  We spent a long time having fun!  Abigail loved it.  She enjoyed crawling around the bounce houses.

Is that me?  It sure is hard to get your 8 yr. old to take a good photo, LOL.  I bounced too, so much fun!

Jamison did flips and tumbles all over.  The boys really enjoyed themselves this time.  It was worth going to just to watch them have so much fun!

James even climbed in a bounce house and jumped a few times.  It is always fun when Mom and Dad join in on the games.

A super slide.  Why is it that children enjoy going up slides?  Is it a rule as a child that you have to do it?

Carter & Quin using team work to get up the slide?

                                                              Hey there birthday boy!

She was worn out like the rest of us! Time to go home and take a nap.  She loves her Daddy.

The basket balls were the little guys favorite.  Jackson stayed in this one most of the time cause it had the balls and a  net.  So glad we went.  It was worth every penny we paid.  Glad that parents are free!
